Players battle with a fixed, very limited set of weapons in a spacious cavern terrain, normally artificial but sometimes randomly generated. Considerable skill with the rope is required for successful play. Players attempt to kill their opponent's worms by launching mines, bazookas and grenades from the rope.

The water level at set at a very specific height for "water drops" - weapons will drown, but worms will not. This makes it more difficult to harm worms on the floor of the map.

The game is prolonged by a constant stream of health crates, which provide the scheme with its only rule:

In any given turn, a health crate must be collected before a weapon can be used.
